BAPTISM REQUIREMENTS
- STEP 1: Review the Requirements for Baptism
  
  Godparent:
  You may have a maximum of two godparents, but you must have at least one. If there are honorary godparents, they do not take part in the Rite of Baptism at Mass. Their names will not be printed on the certificate or placed in the official Baptismal Registry of the parish. t least one godparent must be a fully-initiated Catholic (have received all three sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation). The second "godparent" does not have to be a Roman Catholic but must be a Christian and is technically called and recorded in the Baptismal Registry as a "Christian Witness". The godparents must be at least 16 years of age. The godparents must be confirmed in the Catholic Church. f the godparent is married, s/he must be married in the Catholic Church. If you have only one godparent, then that person can be either male or female. f you have two godparents, then one must be male and the other female. dparents must completely fill out the Godparent Affidavit (see bottom of the page). If the godparents live in Las Vegas, they are required to take the Baptism Preparation Class. If the godparents live in a different city or state, the godparent affidavit must be filled out by their parish pastor or delegate.
  Step 2: Complete the Baptism Registration Form
  When filling out the form, please make sure to choose a Baptism Preparation Class and have both parents and godparents fill out the class registration below (Step 3).
  
  Step 4: Bring All Required Documents
  
  Please bring a copy of the Child's Original Birth Certificate and godparents' confirmation certificate to our parish office. For any questions please get in touch with our [email protected].
  
  In addition to the Baptism Preparation Class, the godparents are required to complete the Godparent Affidavit form, indicating that they are fully qualified to represent the catholic church. If the godparent lives outside of Las Vegas, the godparent must take the affidavit to their parish to have the bottom of the affidavit completed. The form must be filled out and signed. The affidavit must have the seal of the godparent's home parish.
  *Christian Witnesses are not required to complete the Godparent Affidavit*
  
  Step 5: Schedule a Baptism Date
  
  Once you have completed all the requirements, you can come to the office to schedule a Baptism date.
  
  We offer both a Baptism Ceremony in Spanish every Saturday morning (9:00am) and in English at Sunday morning masses (8:30 am or 10:00 am)

  Baptism for Children age 7 to 18:
  Children over the age of seven until eighteen will need to attend a special sacramental program in addition to a regular faith formation program to prepare for the reception of ALL three Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation) at the Easter Vigil.

  Baptism for Adults over 18 years old and out of high school:
  Adults must participate in the OCIA Program (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults).

  Step 3: Attend the Baptism Preparation Class
  If the godparents do not live in Las Vegas must have a godparent affidavit form filled out, signed and sealed by their home parish.
  Both parents and godparents are required to attend a Baptism Preparation Class. The baptism class takes place the first three first Mondays a month in the Church at 7pm. Please arrive at least 20 minutes earlier to be registered.

  1. When will I receive the baptism certificate?
  You will receive it on the date of your child's baptism.
  
  2. Can my child have two godmothers or two godfathers?
  No. As per Canon Law, only one godparent can be male and one female.
  
  3. Do I have to bring my own candle?
  No, we will provide one for your child to be taken home with you after the baptism.
  
  4. What is the fee for the baptism?
  There is a 75 dollars fee for the baptism payable at the Parish office 2 weeks before baptism.
  
  5. When are baptisms held?
  We offer both a Baptism Ceremony in Spanish with a short Liturgy of the Word every Saturday at 9 AM.
  The Baptisms in English usually take place Sundays after 10 AM mass.
  
  6. How many children will be baptized with my child?
  There may be up to 10 children baptized during each ceremony outside of Mass on Saturdays. At the baptisms within or after our weekend 10 AM mass, there will only be 2 children baptized.
  
  7. What if I have not been registered with St Christopher for one year and I do not live within the boundaries?
  We invite you to register with our parish and worship with us for one year. After the 1-year time period, you may begin the process for baptism.
